At Pixel Prometheus, some of the most rewarding projects are the ones where a business already has a starting point, but it’s not quite working. That was exactly the case with the recent launch of the new website for johnsonandpowell.co.uk.
When Leigh at Johnson & Powell first got in touch, the website was essentially a holding page. It had been set up with good intentions, but over time it had become more of a limitation than an asset. There were technical issues, including a problematic SSL certificate, and the site lacked the structure needed to properly support customer enquiries or reflect the level of work the company delivers.
Rather than simply fixing the SSL issue and leaving the site as it was, I saw an opportunity to take things further. The aim shifted from doing a quick repair to building something that would actively support the business. That meant turning a static placeholder into a fully functioning website designed to generate enquiries and present the company in a more professional, credible way.
The project evolved into a complete rebuild. I introduced structured service content to clearly explain Johnson & Powell’s steel processing capabilities, along with additional supporting pages that help guide visitors through the site. A key part of this was developing clear pathways for users to make contact, including a proper enquiry form that allows potential customers to submit detailed requests. The result is a website that doesn’t just exist online, but actually works as part of the sales process.
Alongside the structure and functionality, I focused heavily on the visual direction of the site. Johnson & Powell already had a strong identity, and I wanted to enhance that rather than overcomplicate it. The design leans into a clean, industrial feel, with a professional finish that reflects the precision and reliability of the work they carry out. It’s straightforward, confident, and built to resonate with commercial clients who value clarity and trust.

With the technical issues resolved and the new structure in place, the website now provides a solid foundation for future growth. It’s positioned to support ongoing SEO, attract more relevant traffic, and convert visitors into real enquiries. Most importantly, it gives Johnson & Powell a digital presence that matches the standard of their work in the real world.
Projects like this are a reminder that a website doesn’t need to be overly complex to be effective. What matters is that it’s built with purpose. When done properly, even a relatively simple site can become a powerful tool for generating business rather than just acting as an online placeholder.
If your current website feels like it’s not pulling its weight, it may not be a case of starting from scratch, but of rethinking what it’s actually there to do.
